Anna has lost 5.5 kg weight on 7th day of his hunger strike!!
Anna’s hunger strike, aimed particularly at bettering the deteriorating condition of farmers in India and for the comprehensive implementation of the Lokpal bill, started on 23rd of March. Today is the 7th day of the strike and Anna’s health is deteriorating every day; doctors reported that he had lost 5.5 kg weight on the 7th day of the strike and he has high blood pressure of 186/100. Because of his health issues, on Wednesday evening, the organizers had to cancel the usual press conference.
Here is a sneak peek into the new developments in Anna’s hunger strike…..
- - Anna refused to accept the draft sent by the Government, as he found it useless. He said that there’s nothing new in the draft, and there are only the previously made assurances. It’s much like a routine piece of document.
- - It was anticipated that center minister Nitin Gadkari will be coming to hold talk on the issue with Anna, but no one seemed to have appeared at the venue from the Government’s side.
- - Anna said that the Government hasn’t any concrete action plan on improving the condition of farmers. Also, the Government has not been able to render any convincing assurance on appointment of the Lokyukta.
- - Anna said that as long as I can breathe, I will not call off my strike, unless the Government decides on a justifiable selling price of farmer’s produce. And, is a farmer gets less than that fixed price the Government will be liable to cover up for the loss. In addition to that farmer’s loan waivers must be implemented effectively.
- - The leader of the Swaraj party Yogendra Singh also came to visit the venue on Wednesday, but he returned back even without showing up at the stage.
- - Major General Satbir Singh, who was the crusader behind the implementation of “One Rank One Pension Scheme”, was also seen on the Ramlila ground on Wednesday.
- - Health of around 13 participants of the hunger strike, deteriorated badly and they were admitted to hospital on Wednesday. According to a report, from day one of the strike around 35 participants have been admitted to hospital.
