David Andrew Warner (born 27 October 1986) is an Australian international cricketer and a former captain of the Australian national team in limited overs format and a former Test vice-captain. A left-handed opening batsman, Warner is the first Australian cricketer in 132 years to be selected for a national team in any format without experience in first-class cricket. He plays for New South Wales and currently playing for the Delhi Capitals and Sydney Thunder in domestic cricket.
Warner was born in Paddington, New South Wales, Australia. He is the youngest of four children. His father, David Sr., was a former rugby league player who represented the Australian Aboriginal side in the 1970s. Warner's mother, Lorraine, is a nurse.
Warner attended Matraville Sports High School, where he excelled in both cricket and rugby league. He was selected in the Australian Schoolboys cricket team in 2005 and 2006.
Warner made his first-class debut for New South Wales in 2008. He quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young batsmen in the country. In his first season of domestic cricket, he scored 1,096 runs at an average of 54.80, including four centuries.

Warner holds numerous records in international cricket. He is the first Australian batsman to score 7 ODI centuries in a calendar year. He is also the first Australian batsman to score 3 consecutive centuries in Tests. Warner is also the fastest player to reach 5,000, 7,000, and 10,000 runs in both ODIs and T20Is.
Warner has won numerous awards and honors throughout his career. He was named the Allan Border Medalist in 2016 and 2017. He was also named the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2017.
Warner was appointed captain of the Australian ODI and T20I teams in 2015. He led Australia to victory in the 2016 ICC World T20. However, he was stripped of his captaincy in 2018 following the Sandpaper Gate scandal.
Warner has been involved in a number of controversies throughout his career. In 2013, he was suspended for one game after punching England batsman Joe Root in the face. In 2018, he was suspended for 12 months for his role in the Sandpaper Gate scandal.
Warner is married to Candice Warner. They have three daughters together.
