Most Active Contracts By Number
The various contracts traded in the derivatives market include futures and options. On the basis of their number (in terms of actual figures) the most traded contracts are called active contracts by number. A derivative is not a stand-alone asset, since it has no value of its own. However, more common types of derivatives have been traded on markets before their expiration date as if they were assets. Derivatives facilitate the buying and selling of risk. Different types of derivatives have different levels of counter-party risk. There are three major types of derivative contracts namely – futures, options and swaps.
