Glimpse of Shankar Mahadevan
Born to a Tamil Iyer family, Shankar Mahadevan has been a lively example of hard work and success. He learned Indian classical music and Carnatic music in his childhood and started playing Veena at the age of five. Shankar sings songs in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Marathi. He has given his voice in many movies for AR Rahman, Anu Malik and others for songs like 'urvashi', 'take it easy' from Humse Hai Muqabla(1995), 'I love You' from Auzaar (1997) and many more songs in Nineties.
Besides this, Shankar is an established music director also. He is also an active personality on television with his role as a mentor in Fame Gurukul, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 and Music Ka Maha Muqqabla.
Bollywood Career
Shankat started his career as an engineer in Oracle corporation but his interest in music and instruments bought him to this industry where he has left a mark of his exceptional talent. He played Veena at the age of 11 in the first song of Bhimsen Joshi and Lata Mangeshkar together composed by Shrinivas Khale. Shankar started his career as a singer and bagged many awards inluding National Film Award for his song in Kandukondain Kandukondain.
After a successful run as a singer, Shamkat released his first music album called Breathless in 1998, in which he actually sings through the whole song in a single breath. He got immense fame from this album and later he got into music direction by becoming a part of the Shankar Ehsaan Loy trio, composing music for Hindi films.Presently, Shankar Mahadevan is an eminent singer, lyricist and music director in India.
