Ishan Kishan (born 18 July 1998) is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian national cricket team as a wicket-keeper batsman. He made his international debut in March 2021 against England. He plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and for Jharkhand in domestic cricket.
Ishan Kishan was born on 18 July 1998 in Patna, Bihar, India. He hails from a small town Nawada in Bihar. His father, Pranav Kumar Pandey, is a builder by profession. He has an elder brother named Raj Kishan.
Ishan Kishan started playing cricket at the age of 7. He represented Bihar in the Ranji Trophy before shifting to Jharkhand in 2016. He made his first-class debut for Jharkhand in the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season. In the same season, he scored 273 runs against Delhi, which is the highest score by a player for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy.
Ishan Kishan made his international debut for India on 14 March 2021 in the second T20I match against England. He scored 56 runs in his debut match.
Ishan Kishan made his ODI debut for India on 18 July 2021 against Sri Lanka. He scored 42 runs in his debut match. On 10 December 2022, he scored 210 runs in 131 balls in an ODI match against Bangladesh, becoming the youngest cricketer to score an ODI double century and the first to convert a maiden ODI century to a double century.
Ishan Kishan has played 27 T20I matches for India and has scored 743 runs at an average of 31.04 and a strike rate of 142.35. His highest score in T20I cricket is 89 runs.
Ishan Kishan has not yet played a Test match for India.
In 2016, Ishan Kishan was arrested for reckless driving. He was later released on bail.
