Suryakumar Yadav is an Indian international cricketer who represents the Indian cricket team in ODI & T20I Formats. For his exceptional batting performances in T20 cricket, he is widely considered as one of the best in this format in the current times. He is the current vice-captain of the Indian National Cricket Team in T20I. He has represented India in all three formats of the game. Yadav plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and serves as the vice-captain for the team and for Mumbai in Indian domestic cricket.
Suryakumar Yadav was born on September 14, 1990, in Mumbai, India. He is the only child of Ashok Yadav and Yashoda Yadav. His father is a businessman and his mother is a homemaker. Yadav was brought up in a middle-class family and started playing cricket at a very young age.
Yadav started playing cricket at the age of 10. He joined the Parsee Gymkhana club in Mumbai and quickly rose through the ranks. He made his debut for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy in 2010-11. Yadav had a good start to his first-class career, scoring over 700 runs in his first season.
In 2011, Yadav was picked by the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He played a few matches in his first two seasons but didn't get many opportunities. In 2014, Yadav was traded to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He played a key role in KKR's title-winning campaign in 2014, scoring over 400 runs in the season.
Yadav returned to the Mumbai Indians in 2018 and has been a key player for them ever since. He has helped the Mumbai Indians win the IPL title twice, in 2019 and 2020. Yadav is also the current vice-captain of the Mumbai Indians.
Yadav made his international debut for India in a T20I match against England in March 2021. He scored a quickfire 57 on his debut and was named the Man of the Match. Yadav made his ODI debut for India in July 2021 and scored a half-century on his debut.

Yadav has played 53 T20Is for India so far and has scored 1841 runs at an average of 46. He has scored 3 centuries and 15 half-centuries in his T20I career. Yadav is currently the No. 1 ranked T20I batsman in the world.
Yadav made his Test debut for India in February 2023 against Australia. He scored 8 runs in his Test debut.
Yadav is the fastest Indian batsman to reach 1000 runs in T20Is. He achieved this feat in just 29 matches. He is also the only Indian batsman to score a century in T20Is against England.
Yadav was awarded the ICC Men's T20I Player of the Year award in 2022. He was also named in the ICC Men's T20I Team of the Year in 2022.
Yadav has not captained India in any international match so far. However, he has captained the Mumbai Indians team in the Indian Premier League on a few occasions.
Yadav has been involved in a few controversies during his career. In 2016, he was fined for using abusive language on the field during an IPL match. In 2018, he was suspended for two matches for violating the BCCI's code of conduct during a Ranji Trophy match.
Yadav is married to Devisha Shetty. They have a son named Aryavir.
