Regional Spread : Tulu Nadu, which mainly includes districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in the west of the state of Karnataka. Tulus are also present in parts of Kerala including Mangalore, Kasargod district. A significant number of Tulus are also present in Mumbai and Thane in Maharashtra.
Traditional Occupation : Many of the Tulu are land owning farmers. The poorer Tulu work as laborers in others' fields.

The Tulus are a fair-skinned people who are known for their friendliness and hospitality. Both Tulu men and women are known as hard workers who do not idly pass the time. Tulus are highly advanced in the fields of education, art, and culture. Music and dance play an important role in their festivals and celebrations. For recreation, they enjoy such sports as buffalo racing and cockfighting. Tulu people are divided into several castes. Members of a more prestigious caste avoid associating with lower castes and will not generally marry members of a lower caste.
