Reece James William Topley (born 21 February 1994) is an English international cricketer who plays for the England cricket team in white ball cricket as a left-arm fast medium bowler. He plays for Surrey in domestic cricket. Topley debuted for England in August 2015 against Australia.
Topley was born in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. His father, Donald Topley, was also a professional cricketer, who played for Essex and Glamorgan. Topley attended Royal Hospital School in Holbrook, Suffolk, where he excelled at cricket.
Topley made his first-class debut for Essex in 2011 at the age of 17. He quickly established himself as one of the brightest young bowlers in the country, and was selected for the England Lions squad in 2013.
Topley made his international debut for England in a T20I match against Australia in August 2015. He made his ODI debut the following month in a match against Pakistan.
Topley has played 26 ODIs for England, taking 38 wickets at an average of 26.82. His best bowling figures are 6 for 24, which he achieved against India in July 2022.
Topley has played 22 T20Is for England, taking 22 wickets at an average of 29.50. His best bowling figures are 3 for 22, which he achieved against Pakistan in September 2022.
Topley has not yet played a Test match for England.
Reece Topley is a talented left-arm fast bowler who has overcome a number of injuries to establish himself as a key member of the England white ball team. He is still only 29 years old, and has the potential to develop into one of the best bowlers in the world.
